Pañuelo – The Elegant Filipiniana Alampay
Used in both the contemporary and age-old Filipino traditions, the triangular shawl known as an alampay is worn over the shoulder to add a modest touch to one’s Filipiniana dress. The alampay is informally classified as any kind of shawl, drape or stole used to accessorize, but the panueolo alampay is its formal and most sophisticated counterpart. It is easier to picture it like this: an entire alampay belongs to a panueolo, but not every alampay made is a panueolo.\nThe tassel is embroidered with beautiful patterns along the edges using hand lace weaving methods designed by Filipino artists and tailors. Because of this, it is not only considered beautiful but also useful because it completes the traditional outfit.
